Age of Empires III - Asian Dynasties

We’re off in a few minutes. Off that is to try and buy the new Age of Empires game, Asian Dynasties. It had a release date, that Joshua had been eagerly anticipating of Oct.23, but it seems it is not in the stores until today. Somewhat disheartening news that Joshua and his dad found out yesterday when they went to make their purchase.
We have, I think, most if not all of the Age of Empire games and Joshua has enjoyed each one. Each one has also led him to “read up on” the various dynasties, ages, weapons, people, events etc. He likes to “re-enact” certain battles or events between two opponents. He does this on his own and we also sometimes incorporate these interests into our studies.
For today he’ll be enjoying a day off of “official studies” as he delves into the world of the Asian Dynasties.
Edited next day: High praise for the game in the words of a thirteen year old boy, “It is incredibly awesome!”

This series of games is how we studied history. :D
Hmmm … these look interesting. I bet Joshua is having a blast with his new game.
Meaghan,
Nice tos ee you here. It’s good to know Josh has some kindred spirits :) History is just so much fun this way isn’t it :)
Steph,
Josh says these games are the best and we have definitely gotten our money’s worth out of them. He says this one is his favorite of all.

I’ve been catching up on your blog today, and couldn’t resist commenting on this post.
Want to hear a funny story?
My oldest son has a best friend. He goes to James Madison University. I was talking to him recently and asked him what he’d like to do when he graduated. And he told me that he’d like to tour the world and get into world politics. Strange! I’ve never asked him this question before, so I was startled by this unknown information. So I asked him why he wanted to do that. And he said that his interest in World History and Politics started when he was a teenager and played Age of Empires obsessively. Isn’t that funny!
Now here’s the kicker. Having a brother who is SO much older than him, GB always gets the hand-me-down games. So he is just as obsessed with Age of Empires and it has led to so many interesting school lessons for us.
I can’t speak highly enough about this game. Your son has great taste.
Oh yeah, and in case you were wondering, I like to play too, I am very good, even without using the cheat codes….LOL!
