Two Beautiful Blogs and a New Daily Journal
Jul 3rd, 2007 by lvbirders
While making a daily visit to Brenda’s beautiful blog, Coffee, Tea, Books and Me, I found this post about daily journaling that she had read on another blog. On her own blog, Eyes of Wonder, Jewels had posted an explanation of how she journals her day/life. Visiting there I knew I had found not only another beautiful blog to visit each day but also a way for me to journal about my own days. I have often in the past tried to keep a daily journal but eventually became overwhelmed and then in the end stopped writing at all.
Now with supplies that I found I had on hand, I have created a wonderful place to record my life and my memories. The journal began with magazines I had lying around and then cut pictures and words etc out of to use to decorate the journal pages:

I organized them into gallon size storage bags in general categories such as food/cooking, nature and garden, home etc and then gathered together in a small jar; felt pens, scissors and glue stick.
I found a sketchbook I had that would be perfect for my project and decorated it very simply by pasting a picture on the cover. I also found a basket to keep everything together in one place (it sits on an endtable next to “my spot” on the family room couch):

I have been having so much fun with this journal. I use a page for each day generally. I decorate the page with pictures that “speak” to me that morning and fill the page in with writing throughout the day. I put lists of things to do, what we are having for supper, litttle things that occur during the day etc. I even stapled in the samples of my first attempts at crocheting granny aquares :) Here’s a look at a few days:

I am so grateful for Brenda and Jewels for sharing on their blogs. This journal has become a part of my daily routine right along with my already established seasonal notebooks and reading journal . Maybe I’ll post about those another day :)

THat is great work! :) I never seem to get around to doing something like this, although I kinda want to.
My sister’s done this for years, and her journals are so inspiring and beautiful to look at. You’ve remotivated to try my hand it… once I get my kids’ baby album/scrapbooks in order that is. I like your idea of having all your supplies together in one spot (complete with pre-cut-out pics and borders, etc. so it’s ready when inspiration strikes), very handy.
Thank you for the inspiration today.
You have inspired me to give it a try, too!
I am always finding free magazines at the library and I have a stack of them that would work perfectly.
Perhaps my project for the 4th?
Your journal is so beautiful! You have me sorely tempted to give this a shot. ;-)
Thank you everyone for your kind comments about the journal and I am really enjoying all of your own blogs :)
Andrea, As I said before….you’re so busy helping us non-computer people with our blogs, we don’t give you any time to yourself for things like this ;) Thanks so much for all the help!
Beth and Steph, I can’t wait to see your journals if and when you do one!
Brenda, It was thanks to the post on your own blog about Jewel’s journal that prompted all of this so a very big thank you from me.
Great journal pages! I really like them and have also been inspired by Jewels.
