A Bear Named Winnie

While perusing various movies dealing with World War I, Josh and I came across this pleasant surprise, A Bear Named Winnie. The same day my daughter and I were at Hollywood Video and happened upon that very movie.
The movie is based on the true story of a Canadian soldier who adopts an orphaned bear cub while enroute to Wolrd War I from his hometown of Winnipeg. He names the bear cub Winnie (for Winnipeg) and it eventually ends up in the London Zoo when he is called to the front. This is the bear that became the inspiration for A.A. Milne’s famous Winnie the Pooh stories. I never knew this and I am a huge Winnie the Pooh fan!
We thoroughly enjoyed it and cried/smiled throughout the movie. Watch it and you’ll know why.
