Being Grateful

“Life begins on the other side of despair.” Jean-Paul Sartre
The other night my oldest daughter wrote a paper on Sartre for a college class and today I came across these words of his. They speak to my heart and mind right now. Life sometimes has periods of darkness and despair and yet it is all a part of this wonderful gift we have been given… to experience everything for the short time we are here, both easy and difficult. We need only to look to the other side when things seem too hard, for there is another side.
Homeschooling during these times is such a blessing and I am very grateful. Grateful to be able to share life’s experiences as a family, together each day. Grateful to be able to do things at our own pace, taking it easier when that is what is needed. Grateful that even on the days when I think our studies have been suffering, discussions and interesting conversations about new things read about/learned remind me that education is not just about subjects and facts. Education is life itself.

We’ve been wondering about you guys. I hope things are OK.
