Justine’s Book
Jun 14th, 2006 by lvbirders
In April of this year Josh and I celebrated Poetry month by reading from a book of poems based on art masterpieces. We enjoyed the book so much and the idea of connecting poetry with art that Josh wrote a poem about one of the paintings from our artist of the term. I posted about it here on our old blog. The book is titled Paint Me a Poem: Poems Inspired by Masterpieces of Art by Justine Rowden.

A month or so ago I received one of the nicest emails ever from the author herself. She thanked me for posting about the book, was glad we had enjoyed it, and made some very kind and encouraging comments about Josh’s poem. She asked if we would like to have a copy of the book. Would we ever! Well the book came in the mail yesterday with a wonderful note and a beautiful inscription on the inside. As soon as I opened the package we had to read it again :)

I can’t tell you how honored Josh and I feel. This author took the time to contact us more than once and thank us for reading and commenting on her book. Not many writers out there go that extra mile with their books that Justine has done. We are so grateful, not only for having our very own, autographed personal copy of her book but especially for her having written the book and shared it with all the rest of us, her audience of readers.
The book can be enjoyed by ALL ages, little and older (yes even mom’s, dad’s, grandparents etc). Justine’s poems are written side by side with beautiful art reproductions. Her poems tell her stories of these paintings. What a wonderful way to look at art and one that children have a natural tendency to emulate. Josh had a great time writing his poem and I know he looks at paintings in a unique way now after reading Justine’s book.
Thank you Justine. You have helped to enrich our family and our homeschooling.

This looks like a wonderful book! I will have to look for it. :-)
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this book. As soon as I read this, I went to our library’s website and ordered it.
