A Great Read Aloud

You know it is a good book when mom has to hand it over for son to read because she can’t continue on since she is crying too hard and then said son chokes up as he tries to read it to her.
Last night Josh and I finished this wonderful book. We have been doing a study of Korea since his playing the Age of Conquerers computer game prompted an interest in learning about ancient Korea (he was the Korean civilization at the time). This led to finding this wonderful fiction book which is based in 12th century Korea.
Very well written, it has a tremendous amount of wisdom in it that led to many great discussions about being honest, respectful, making “right” choices and so much more. We were sad to leave this story and these characters but felt so blessed to have made them a part of our lives for this past week or so. Ah, isn’t that the sign of a good book after all. :)

I will definitely keep that one in mind for whenever we get around to anything Asian at all. Which may be soon as I am so dreadfully sick of “The Ancient World” right now I could cry…
What reading level is this…..grade school, young adult?
Hi Maureen,
The book is listed at grade level: 5th-8th, age level:10 and up. Personally I think this story transcends any age. It has meaning and interest for everyone.
